અર્જુનના પિતા બોનીએ બે લગ્ન કર્યા હતા. તેણે પ્રથમ લગ્ન વર્ષ 1983માં મોના કપૂર સાથે કર્યા હતા. બંનેને બે બાળકો અર્જુન અને અંશુલા કપૂર છે. તે જ સમયે, બોનીએ પછીથી મોનાને છૂટાછેડા આપી દીધા અને વર્ષ 1996માં અભિનેત્રી શ્રીદેવી પર શાસન કર્યું. આવી સ્થિતિમાં અર્જુન અને તેની બહેનનો ઉછેર તેમની માતાએ એકલા હાથે કર્યો હતો.
બીજી વખત લગ્ન કર્યા બાદ અર્જુન તેના પિતાથી નારાજ હતો, જ્યારે શ્રીદેવી સાથે તેના સંબંધો સારા ન હતા, પરંતુ બાદમાં તેની સાવકી બહેનો સાથેના સંબંધો પણ બગડી ગયા હતા. જોકે, શ્રીદેવીના મૃત્યુ બાદ જાહ્નવી-ખુશી અને અર્જુન વચ્ચેના સંબંધો સુધરવા લાગ્યા હતા. વર્ષ 2018 માં શ્રીદેવીના મૃત્યુ પછી, અર્જુન તેની સાવકી બહેનોની નજીક આવ્યો અને દુઃખની આ ઘડીમાં તેમનો સહારો બન્યો.
અર્જુન કપૂરે તેના તાજેતરના એક ઇન્ટરવ્યુમાં ખુશી અને જ્હાનવી સાથેના તેના સંબંધો વિશે ખુલીને વાત કરી છે. એક ન્યૂઝ વેબસાઈટ સાથે વાત કરતાં તેણે કહ્યું કે, ‘જો હું તમને કહું કે અમે એક પરફેક્ટ ફેમિલી છીએ, તો હું અહીં આવું કહેવું ખોટું ગણીશ. તે અલગ-અલગ મંતવ્યોનો વિષય નથી, અમે હજી પણ અલગ-અલગ પરિવારો છીએ જે એક સાથે બંધન કરવાનો પ્રયાસ કરી રહ્યાં છે. જ્યારે અમે સાથે હોઈએ છીએ ત્યારે અમે અદ્ભુત સમય પસાર કરીએ છીએ પરંતુ તેમ છતાં અમે સાથે નથી.
અર્જુન કપૂર આગળ કહે છે કે ‘હું એવું જૂઠ વેચવા નથી માગતો કે બધું જ પરફેક્ટ છે. તે યોગ્ય નથી કારણ કે અમે હજુ પણ એકબીજાને જાણવાનો પ્રયાસ કરી રહ્યા છીએ. અમારા જીવનમાં બે ખૂબ જ કમનસીબ ક્ષણો આવી જેણે અમને એક કર્યા. આપણે હંમેશા તૂટેલા ટુકડા જેવા રહીશું. એકબીજાના જીવનમાં રહેલી ગેપને ભરવાનો પ્રયાસ કરે છે.
અભિનેતાએ આગળ કહ્યું કે, ‘અમે એકબીજાના સપોર્ટ છીએ. જાહ્નવી અને ખુશીના જન્મના 20 વર્ષ પછી અમે મળ્યા. હું હવે 35 વર્ષનો છું, અંશુલા 28 વર્ષની છે. અમે પરિપક્વ પુખ્ત છીએ. અમને એકબીજા સાથે રહેવાનું ખૂબ જ મુશ્કેલ લાગે છે અને મને એમ પણ લાગે છે કે જો બધું બરાબર નથી, તો તમે સાથે રહેવાનું શીખો અને તમે મતભેદોને માન આપતા શીખો. એક રીતે, આપણે પણ ઘણા સમાન છીએ. અમારી પાસે અમારા પિતાના જનીનો છે.
