21 નવેમ્બર 1938ના રોજ યાંગોન, મ્યાનમાર (બર્મા)માં જન્મેલી હિન્દી સિનેમાની અભિનેત્રી હેલન 83 વર્ષની થઈ ગઈ છે. તે લોકપ્રિય બોલીવુડ અભિનેતા સલમાન ખાનની સાવકી માતા અને પ્રખ્યાત પટકથા લેખક સલીમ ખાનની બીજી પત્ની છે. ભૂતકાળમાં હેલને બોલિવૂડમાં મોટું નામ કમાવ્યું હતું. તેણીના અભિનયની સાથે તેણી તેના ડાન્સથી પણ ઘણી લોકપ્રિય બની હતી.

હેલન જ્યારે માત્ર 19 વર્ષની હતી ત્યારે તેણે વર્ષ 1957માં પોતાનાથી 27 વર્ષ મોટા ડિરેક્ટર પ્રેમ નારાયણ અરોરા સાથે લગ્ન કર્યા હતા. જો કે, તેના પતિની ક્રિયાઓને કારણે, તેણી તેનાથી અલગ થઈ ગઈ. બંનેના લગ્ન સફળ ન રહ્યા. એવું કહેવાય છે કે હેલન કામ કરીને કમાતી હતી અને અરોરા તેની કમાણીનો ખર્ચ કરતી હતી. આવી સ્થિતિમાં હેલન નારાજ થઈ ગઈ અને તેણે તેના પતિને છૂટાછેડા આપી દીધા. લગ્નના લગભગ 17 વર્ષ બાદ વર્ષ 1974માં બંનેના સંબંધોનો અંત આવ્યો હતો.

હેલનના જીવનમાં ફરી એકવાર પ્રેમ આવ્યો.હેલન તેના અંગત જીવનમાં સલીમ ખાનના કારણે પણ હેડલાઈન્સ મેળવવામાં સફળ રહી. વાસ્તવમાં, જ્યારે બંને કલાકારો તેમની કારકિર્દીની ટોચ પર હતા, ત્યારે બંને એકબીજાના પ્રેમમાં પડ્યા હતા. સલીમ ખાન પહેલેથી જ પરિણીત હતા. તેણે વર્ષ 1964માં જ સલમા ખાન સાથે લગ્ન કર્યા હતા, પરંતુ તેમ છતાં સલીમે બીજા લગ્ન કરી લીધા હતા.

સલીમને નવા સંબંધને લઈને કોઈ સમસ્યા ન હતી, જ્યારે છૂટાછેડા લીધેલ હેલન પણ પરિણીત સલીમ સાથે લગ્ન કરવા સંમત થઈ હતી. તેમનો પ્રેમ ખીલ્યો અને આખરે દુનિયા, સમાજ અને પરિવારની પરવા કર્યા વગર બંને કલાકારોએ વર્ષ 1981માં લગ્ન કરી લીધા.

જ્યારે સલીમના બીજા લગ્ન થયા ત્યારે તેના તમામ બાળકો મોટા થઈ ગયા હતા અને પરિવાર પર પણ તેની ખરાબ અસર પડી હતી.

એવું કહેવાય છે કે સલીમ અને હેલને કોઈને જાણ કર્યા વિના ગુપ્ત રીતે લગ્ન કરી લીધા હતા. જોકે, જ્યારે સલીમની પહેલી પત્ની અને સલમાનની માતા સલમાને આ વાતની જાણ થઈ ત્યારે તે ખૂબ જ દુઃખી થઈ ગઈ હતી અને તેના કારણે તે ડિપ્રેશનનો શિકાર બની ગઈ હતી. આટલું જ નહીં પિતાના બીજા લગ્નથી બાળકોને પણ ઘેરો આઘાત લાગ્યો હતો. સલમાન ખાન, અરબાઝ ખાન, સોહેલ ખાન અને અલવીરા ખાન અગ્નિહોત્રીએ પણ પિતા પ્રત્યે નારાજગી વ્યક્ત કરી હતી.

સલીમ ખાને ફરીથી લગ્ન કર્યા બાદ તેના પરિવારની પ્રતિક્રિયા વિશે વાત કરી. તેણે એક ઈન્ટરવ્યુમાં આ અંગે મોટો ખુલાસો કર્યો હતો. સલીમ ખાને કહ્યું હતું કે, ‘સલમાથી લઈને તેના બાળકો સુધી તે હેલન પ્રત્યે નફરતભર્યું વર્તન કરતો હતો. તે તેની માતાને જે કરતી જોઈ રહ્યો હતો તે કરી રહ્યો હતો.

મેં પ્રામાણિકપણે કહ્યું તેમ, સલમાએ અમારા સંબંધોને તરત જ સ્વીકાર્યા નહીં… આ કારણે, તે સમયે બાળકોમાંથી હેલન પ્રત્યે માત્ર નફરત હતી. જોકે, સમયની સાથે બધું સામાન્ય થઈ ગયું અને પરિવારે હેલનને દત્તક લીધી.

તમને જણાવી દઈએ કે હેલનના કરિયરની શરૂઆત બંગાળી ફિલ્મ ‘હાવડા બ્રિજ’થી થઈ હતી. ‘ગુમનામ’ ફિલ્મથી તેને ખાસ ઓળખ મળી હતી. આ માટે, તેઓ સહાયક કલાકાર તરીકે તેમની કારકિર્દીના પ્રથમ ફિલ્મફેર માટે પણ નામાંકિત થયા હતા. તે એક ડાન્સર તરીકે બોલિવૂડમાં પોતાની ઓળખ બનાવવામાં સફળ રહી. તેને હિન્દી સિનેમાની પ્રથમ આઈટમ ડાન્સ ગર્લ પણ કહેવામાં આવે છે.
